Linlithgow and District Pipe Band - About
Based in West Lothian, we are a competition orientated pipe band that endeavours to encourage local youngsters into the pipe band culture through our teaching systems. The band is represented via the Lothian and Borders Branch of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association.
The 2008 season will see the band under the leadership of Pipe Major Logan Tannock and new Leading Drummer Callum Murdoch.
Logan joined the band in 2004 as Pipe Sergeant after playing with Shotts and Dykehead and The Clan Gregor Society. Logan took over as Pipe Major in 2006 from Jim Semple.
2008 sees a change in Leading Drummer. Due to work commitments Grant Moore (pictured left in 2007) has had to step down as Leading Drummer. The position has now been taken up by Callum Murdoch.
Callum rejoined the band in November 2007 for his second spell with the band. Callum had previously played in the Champion of Champion Drum Corps of 2006 before taking a year out in 2007. Callum is delighted to be back in the band, relishing the challenges ahead and delighted to once again be working with Mick O’Neill whom he played with at both Newtongrange and Clan Gregor Society.
Our players come from all surrounding West Lothian areas as well as Falkirk, Glasgow, Stirling, Dundee and the Borders.
As our band has no form of financial support, all the money that comes into the band is raised by ourselves through competition money, organised fund raising nights and lots of dedication by our members. We also hire ourselves out for gala’s, fete’s, weddings and other events and in 2004 we were the first ever pipe band to get their kilts off and do a calendar which went down very well selling over 3000 world wide.
